On February 28, 2023, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (DEC), filed a request to increase charges for fuel and fuel-related costs effective September 1, 2023. DEC’s request would result in an increase of 4.377 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for residential customers, an increase of 3.9202 cents per kWh for commercial customers, and an increase of 3.4394 cents per kWh for industrial customers. If approved, the net effect of DEC’s request would be to increase the monthly bill of a residential customer using 1,000 kWh of electricity by $18.90.

This hearing is being held in order to take the testimony of expert witnesses. However, there will be a brief opportunity for public witness testimony at the beginning of the hearing. In addition to providing testimony, DEC customers may submit written statements via email. Be sure to include the docket number in the subject line.
