On February 28, 2023, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (DEC) filed a request to adjust its electric rates due to changes in the cost of complying with North Carolina’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS), with changes taking effect September 1, 2023. DEC’s request would result in changes in customers’ monthly bills as follows: For residential customers, the monthly REPS rider charge would decrease by $0.23. For general service and lighting customers, the monthly REPS rider charge would decrease by $1.53. And for industrial customers, the monthly REPS rider charge would decrease by $7.62.

This hearing is being held in order to take the testimony of expert witnesses. However, there will be a brief opportunity for public witness testimony at the beginning of the hearing. In addition to providing testimony, DEC customers may submit written statements via email. Be sure to include the docket number in the subject line.
